Medical Assisting Management College Program

Medical Assistant College

A career in medical assisting management will prepare the student for an entry-level position in a medical office, hospital, insurance company or other health care related environment that requires the coordination of support services and office administration. The student will also learn supervision techniques of personnel working in an office or support environment.

In addition to management skills, the student will learn functions vital to the administration of a medical office. This includes medical billing, records management, insurance coding, accounts payable and accounts receivable tracking, preparing charts and medical dictation. Much of these functions will be administered using modern medical management software.

The student will also learn clinical duties such as patient vitals, CPR, basic first aid, diagnostic and laboratory techniques, anatomy and physiology of the body, preparation for physical exams and modern office lab technology. Additional training includes medication, EKG, injections, urinalysis, and examination room procedures and equipment.

While management, administration and lab techniques are important in a health care office or lab, communication is important to the overall effectiveness of any business operation. As a medical assisting management graduate, the student will have learned how to communicate both orally and in written form the requirements, needs and procedures of patient and medical staff alike.

Some forms of communication a graduate may encounter include correspondence with medical suppliers, after-care instructions as directed by a doctor and communication with medical specialist on behalf of a patient. Regardless of what form of communication the medical specialist uses, they must be courteous and pleasant in their approach at all times.
